The Parallels VDI service allows you to log into our HPOC environment. Your Nutanix Representative reserved equipment from within one of our datacenters. The link and credentials necessary to access the environment are specific to the datacenter. Once you've logged into Parallels and are inside the HPOC environment, you can access the equipment reserved with a different set of provided credentials.

Note: When a popup window asks if you wish to see text or images copied to the clipboard, click Allow.

Using the HTML5 Parallels Instance

If you choose the HTML5 client, use the credentials provided by your Nutanix Representative. After you log in, click on the Windows desktop icon to launch the VDI.

Once on the Windows desktop, you may navigate to the Chrome browser and use a different set of IP Address and credentials provided to access the Nutanix cluster.

When working in the VDI it is best to use your mouse for functions like copy and paste. Parallels offers a remote clipboard on the VDI desktop for copying and pasting between computers. Use the menu options on the right of the Desktop to resize the window, download and upload to the remote computer, access keyboard functions, and open the clipboard tool.

When the lab is complete, navigate to the Windows power button and click on Disconnect to end the session. You may also log out of Parallels under the user profile icon in the top right corner.

Parallels also offers a desktop client. Use the following instructions to download and connect through a desktop client.

Troubleshooting Tips for the VDI Environment

  • Make sure you are not currently using another VPN or VDI service.

  • Chrome is the browser of choice as it has been tested and used heavily with Parallels.

  • If you have issues accessing the VDI URL provided, try using an Incognito window in Chrome. Cookies from a previous session may be preventing your access.

  • Size your screen before logging into the VDI service. Resizing after you log in may force another log-on attempt quickly, leading to a lockout for your credentials.

  • When a popup window asks if you wish to see text or images copied to the clipboard, click Allow.

  • Use your mouse to copy and paste within the VDI environment. Keyboard options, such as Ctl + C and Ctl + V, have been known to cause issues.

  • Take advantage of any Copy icons within any of the Nutanix lab guides.

  • The credentials you use to access VDI are different from those you will use when logging into the Nutanix Cluster. Check with your Nutanix Representative to make sure you have all the credentials you'll need to complete the lab or hosted POC.
