Parallels is one of the VDI applications you may choose to access the lab environment with a desktop client or through a supported HTML5 browser. The HTML5 client works well, but should you need to download the desktop client, follow these instructions to download, install, and configure the client application.
Downloading Parallels Client
It's always best to use the following links to access the Download button and install the client. Depending upon the link selected, a predefined connection is automatically created for the related datacenter during installation. Be sure to select the link where your reserved hardware resides. If you're unsure, ask your Nutanix Representative.
Parallels RAS - RTP: Download from RTP
Parallels RAS - PHX: Download from PHX
Parallels RAS - BLR: Download from BLR
Installing Parallels Client
Once the download is complete, click on the .exe file to start the installation process. Select Install Basic Client and allow the application to install.
Configure a Connection
After installation, open the Parallels client using the desktop icon.
Based on the selected download link, a policy creates a connection to the appropriate lab location. However, if no connections exist you may work with your Nutanix Representative to manually create one using the instructions below.
1- Navigate to File > New Connection. Enter the server address provided by your Nutanix Rep and click Next.
2- Select Gateway SSL Mode using the Connection Mode drop-down menu.
3- Use one of the following suggested Friendly names for your connection based on the Server Address.
X-Labs - PHX (phx-ras.xlabs.nutanix.com)
X-Labs - RTP (dm3-ras.xlabs.nutanix.com)
X-Labs - BLR (blr-ras.xlabs.nutanix.com)
4- Supply the provided lab credentials; any Options will be set automatically through a policy.
5- Your connections have been added to your client. Click on any of the connection icons to launch the login process.
Using the Client
Connect to the same site where your resources are located to see available desktops and applications. If you need help determining which site to access, check with your Nutanix Representative.
Double-click on a connection to launch a session.
Use your lab credentials to log into the lab environment.
Open a browser and use the URL provided to access Prism. Once more, you'll use your lab credentials to log into the Nutanix software.
Disconnect your sessions when you are done by using the Session toolbar.
