We welcome the opportunity to show you exactly how your hypervisors or data files can be managed within a Nutanix environment. We offer a public FTP site just for this purpose and recommend using a tool like FileZilla. Work with your Nutanix Representative to obtain the correct SFTP URL and credentials before your lab session. Follow the steps below to upload your files to the appropriate location.
We'll use FileZilla to walk you through the uploading process in the example below.
1 - Be sure to request the URL and credentials necessary to upload your custom data or workload into our HPOC environment.
2- Open your FTP tool, use the provided credentials, and navigate to our public SFTP site. Ensure the appropriate port is entered in the Port field. FileZilla might use FTP by default, which would refuse the connection.
3- Once the connection is successfully established, navigate to the Public directory before you begin the upload process. The Remote Site defaults to / and is not writeable.
Your Nutanix Representative may have created a folder designated just for you under /public directory. Be sure to navigate down into /public to find or create the appropriate folder.
4- Using the two panes, look under Local Site on the left, navigate to the image file and proceed to drag and drop it into the correct folder under Remote site on the right.
Size of File Uploading
When transferring files into the SFTP server, ensure the file size you are uploading matches the size once uploaded to the SFTP server. Similarly, when moving or creating files on DFS, ensure the size matches when complete. A mismatched file size could indicate the upload failed.
Once the upload is complete, your Nutanix representative can take the appropriate steps to pull it into the HPOC environment.
About Data Removal
We have automatic retention policies set to clean and wipe away files automatically in our shared public environment after 10 days. However, we recommend not uploading sensitive data to our public FTP sites.
